Scrobble to Last.fm & ListenBrainz
Send your finished listens to Last.fm or ListenBrainz — straight from your Mac with nothing routed through Kapell.
Where it lives
Both services live in Settings → Scrobbling. Each has its own on/off toggle, so you can scrobble to one, both, or neither. Everything is sent directly from your Mac to Last.fm or ListenBrainz — your listens never pass through Kapell’s servers — and your credentials are held in the macOS Keychain.
Kapell talks to Last.fm and ListenBrainz from your machine. There's no Kapell account in the middle, and no copy of your scrobbles kept on our side.

Connect Last.fm
Last.fm is a browser approval flow — no password is ever typed into Kapell.
Kapell stores a non-expiring session key in the Keychain. A Disconnect button revokes it locally whenever you want.
Private plays
A third option — Also scrobble private plays — decides whether listens recorded in Private Mode, or inside a private Crate, are still sent to your scrobble service. It’s off by default.
Whichever way you set this, private plays are kept out of your Apple Music® listening history. The toggle only governs your own scrobble feed.
What gets scrobbled (and when)
- WHENOnce it counts. A track scrobbles after it's played for four minutes or half its length, whichever comes first — the standard scrobbling rule. Skips don't count.
- DONEFinished listens only. Kapell submits completed scrobbles — there's no live "now playing" ping while a track is in progress.
- DATAWhat each one carries. Artist, track, and timestamp, plus album, duration, and track number when known. ListenBrainz also gets a MusicBrainz recording ID when one is available.
- QUEUESurvives a dropped connection. Scrobbles wait in a durable outbox and retry, so a flaky network doesn't lose a listen.
